MANAGEMENT

 

Marc L.M. van Ravels (born Amsterdam) is Managing partner of Visionex Consultancy. He studied law at Utrecht University, and did his military service as reserve officer in the Ministry of Defence in The Hague where he was employed at the Bureau of Public Law and Legislation. In 1980 he was admitted as first Dutch national ever to the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA) in Paris. In 1982 Marc returned as civil servant to the Ministry of Defence in The Hague, and became the executive assistant of the minister of Defence Mr Hans van Mierlo and his successor Mr Job de Ruiter. 

 

After several years Marc switched to the private sector and became Head of International Trade Development at Crédit Lyonnais Bank Nederland, where he promoted actively the commercial exchanges between the Netherlands and France; in 1988 he attended a Management Program at the Harvard Business School. During the liberalization and privatization era of the nineties, Marc  introduced several French and other foreign telecommunications and railway companies into the Netherlands.

 

Marc founded VisIonex Consultancy in 1994 with a prime focus on the development and strengthening of French-Dutch commercial relations. In recognition of his professional achievements and social engagement, Queen Beatrix decreed Marc van Ravels Officer in the order of Orange-Nassau in 2011.

 

In addition to his professional duties Marc van Ravels participates in voluntary activities: 

  • Honorary Consul of France
  • Honorary President Dutch ENA Association
  • Former Chairman of the preservation society of the ‘IJsselmeer’, the largest fresh water laguna in Europe
  • Former Board member of the largest Dutch heritage association ‘Heemschut’
  • Former Board member of the coordinating body of all Dutch heritage associations NCM
  • Former Board member of the European heritage association ‘Europa Nostra’
  • Reserve Colonel of the Royal Netherlands Army, Legal Service
